La flor del corazón (The heart's flower)

In his Thoughts, Pascal wrote: "All men's miseries derive from not being able to sit in a quiet room alone." What compels us - he would ask - to embark on the quest of laying seige to a city? Why would we take a long journey or a voyage of exploration, if itself is a tour and the expense of the place we occupy is enough to discover all that is humanly possible to discover?
Sandra Päni is an artist who shares these ideas and lets them flourish in her paintings. Keeping quiet, in contemplation, and feeling as one with the place she occupies is a way of taking up a world that harmouniously relates to her own nature. That is why, at least until quite recently, she hadn't felt the need to explore a universe beyond the boundaries of her own body.
